For those who prefer pictures over words, then this is the post for you! I spent a few days in NYC around New Years to visit my best friend Kat and had an amazing trip! Since most of my time in New York was spent walking and visiting various landmarks, it seems fitting for this post to be more of a photo gallery than my normal paragraph + accompanying photo(s) format. (Psst, or maybe I’m just feeling lazy this week and I don’t want to write as much haha.) Regardless of the reason, the following pictures will showcase chronologically my vacation in NYC! Enjoy!

Washington Square Park on a crisp Winter morning 🙂

Washington Square Park was originally a cemetery, but was bought by the city and made into a public park in the 1820s.

The neighborhood surrounding the square became one of the city’s most desirable residential areas in the 1830s.

Many of the buildings surrounding the park now belong to NYU.

Kat and I then made a stop at Tea and Sympathy in West Village to warm up! So quaint and delicious! One of Kat’s favorite places to go and now for me too!

Next we ventured to High Line Park which is a pretty new addition to NYC.

High Line is a one mile park built on a former elevated railroad section.

The urban park runs along the lower west side of Manhattan.

The old railroad tracks are now incorporated into the gardens.

We didn’t last long on the elevated park thanks to the wicked wind, but I can see how this would be a great place to hang out in the summer!

Spotted: the Empire State Building!

On our search for Levain Bakery we marveled at this beautiful building!

The architecture is amazing!

Buildings just aren’t built this beautifully and intricately anymore.

We found it! Lavain Bakery is known for their cake-like cookies. Yum!

Chrysler Building

Bryant Park all decorated for Christmas!

Lots of cute shops and such in Bryant Park, located right behind the New York Public Library.

Behind the Christmas tree is an ice rink!

Kat and I treated ourselves to some hot apple cider! I think it was the best cider I’ve ever had. Maybe because we were so cold, or it was the cinnamon stick in the cider. 🙂

New Year’s is probably one of the busiest times of year in New York.

So many tourists like me haha.

But I don’t recommend riding the tram on a windy day…it swayed a lot!

Our goal was to walk Brooklyn Bridge this day, but it was far too cold!

St. Paul’s Chapel + a view of the Freedom Tower

St. Paul’s Chapel is the oldest surviving church building in Manhattan.

Seaport neighbors the Financial District and features original 1800s mercantile buildings.

Trinity Church in the Financial District.

Many of the names and dates on the headstones have eroded away.

Trinity Church was constructed in 1698. But this current church is the third construction built in 1846.

Alexander Hamilton is buried at the Trinity Church cemetery.

There it is again!

The Flatiron Building. Built in 1902.

Upon its completion it was one of the tallest buildings in New York.
